The Super Bowl is coming to SoFi Stadium.
Super Bowl LXI will be played in Inglewood, California, at the home of the Los Angeles Rams. And the Rams, who have never been a franchise content to let a moment pass them by, responded to that information the only way Sean McVay knows how: they went and got everybody.
Reigning MVP quarterback. Best offensive player at his position. Reigning Defensive Player of the Year. All-Pro cornerback. One of the most talented receiver duos in the league. A deep returning core with championship expectations.
On paper, this is the most loaded Rams roster in years. Whether that turns into a championship, and another home championship at SoFi, is the story of the 2026 NFL season in Los Angeles.
The Offense Is Already Historic
Let's start with where the Rams were before they made a single offseason move: the NFL's highest-scoring offense in 2025, running through a quarterback who just won the MVP award.
Matthew Stafford is playing some of the best football of his career, and at this stage that is not a small statement. The Georgia product, and yes, some of us root for him despite our allegiances, is doing what great quarterbacks do at the peak of their powers: making the right decision, distributing the football efficiently, and elevating everyone around him. The Rams do not win the title they are chasing without Stafford being exactly who he is right now.
New offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury now steps into one of the best situations in football. The question is not whether the Rams have enough weapons. They do. The question is how Kingsbury and McVay keep the offense balanced, keep the tempo high, and decide how much to lean into the wide receiver room versus a deeper tight end group.
Around Stafford, McVay has built a receiver room that opposing defensive coordinators will spend their entire offseason trying to solve.
Puka Nacua had one of the best receiver seasons in recent memory in 2025: 129 receptions, 1,715 yards, and 10 touchdowns. He led all wide receivers in fantasy production at 23.5 points per game. He is the No. 1 option, one of the most dangerous slot-and-outside hybrid receivers in the game, and he is only getting better.
Alongside him is Davante Adams, who remains in Los Angeles after the Rams moved on from Cooper Kupp. Adams is no longer the dominant force he was at his peak in Green Bay, but he remains one of the most technically refined route runners in the league and a veteran presence who gives Stafford another reliable option on any down and distance.
This offense is not coming down a gear.
They Went and Got Myles Garrett
If the offense was already elite, the defensive additions are what separate this Rams roster from previous versions.
Myles Garrett is here. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, one of the best pass rushers alive, is now wearing a Rams uniform after Los Angeles sent Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick to Cleveland. That is an enormous price. It is also exactly the kind of price teams pay when they believe a Super Bowl window is open right now.
Garrett gives Los Angeles a true difference-maker off the edge, the kind of player who changes what opposing offenses can do on any given snap. You cannot gameplan around him. You can try to manage him, and he still finds a way.
The secondary also got a massive upgrade. The Rams traded for Trent McDuffie, the All-Pro cornerback from Kansas City, and signed him to a four-year extension. McDuffie is one of the best corners in the league, and pairing him with Jaylen Watson, also added this offseason, gives Los Angeles a cornerback room that can match up with any receiving corps in the NFC.
The Rams retained plenty of key pieces from a team that was already a playoff contender. Add Garrett and McDuffie, and the Rams are no longer just a contender. They are the pick.
The Young Defense Still Matters
The stars are obvious, but the Rams' defense is not only about Garrett and McDuffie.
Braden Fiske, Byron Young, Kam Kinchens, and Josaiah Stewart all matter in how this defense evolves. Garrett drawing extra protection should create cleaner opportunities for the rest of the front. McDuffie and Watson stabilizing the cornerback room should give the pass rush more time. If one or two of the younger pieces take a leap, this defense can go from dangerous to suffocating.
That is the scary version of the Rams: not just a team that bought stars, but a team whose young core gets better because those stars change the geometry of every snap.
The "Too Many Stars" Question
You raised it, and it is worth addressing honestly: this kind of roster construction does not always work.
History is full of teams that assembled too much talent and watched it buckle under the weight of expectations, contract disputes, touches distribution, or simple locker room chemistry. The more stars you have, the more moving parts there are, and the more ways things can go sideways before January arrives.
The Rams have been here before. They went all-in in 2021 and won the Super Bowl. They went all-in in 2022 and fell apart. The margin between those two outcomes was not as wide as it looked from the outside.
What works in their favor is McVay. He is one of the best coaches in football at managing egos, distributing roles, and keeping a star-heavy roster pointed in the same direction. If anyone can make this work, it is him. But the question is fair, and it will follow this team until they answer it in January.
The Home Super Bowl Factor
This cannot be overstated. Super Bowl LXI is at SoFi Stadium. The Rams know it. The NFL knows it. Every opponent they face in 2026 knows it.
The Rams have already won a Super Bowl at SoFi once, beating the Bengals there to finish the 2021 season. Now they have a chance to chase that history again, this time with a roster built specifically around another Los Angeles run.
Whether that pressure is fuel or weight is something we will not know until the moment arrives. But it is the defining context of everything the Rams do this season.

We are picking the Rams to win the NFC and play in the Super Bowl at their home stadium. The talent is undeniable, Stafford is at the peak of his powers, and McVay has built the kind of roster that wins championships. The "too many stars" risk is real, but this offense is too good and this defense is now too dangerous to bet against.
Whether they win it all is a different question. But they will be there. And if they do win it, at home, with Stafford getting another ring, it will be one of the great stories the NFL has produced in years.
